Thrust Xtreme is a perfect remake. Not only does it take the original game and iron out the creaky elements, it also adds extra levels and a level editor to boot. All this and it's completely free.The wireframe vector graphics have been given a lovely glowing effect, and of course everything is a smooth as silk. The control of the ship is spot-on, everything from rotation speed to thrust power pitched perfectly. It's an absolute dream to play and proves beyond doubt that beauty can lie in simplicity.
As a game it's already a long-established classic of tight control and delicate maneouvres, each successive level a little more demanding than the last. Somehow it never frustrates though, and it invites repeat plays purely through its satisfying feel.
