75 - Puzzle Bobble (Super Nintendo)

While I'm not a particular fan of Bub and Bob's platform adventures, I find this spin-off series completely charming and addictive. Like all the best puzzle games the setup is simple - fire coloured bubbles onto other bubbles, stick three together and they pop. Each screen must be cleared within a time limit to move onto the next.

A few bubbles crop up that have special effects, like lightning bolts or waterfalls - essentially things that clear out a lot of bubbles at once. Mainly though it's about carefully aiming the bubble gun to stick the things right where you need them.

Buckets of cute but nicely challenging, it also has one of the most insanely catchy/annoying tunes ever written.
